Outdoor Weddings

Here are several things to consider when planning an outdoor wedding, especially in Arizona. Heat, wind, rain and even snow in the Sedona and Flagstaff areas may all be uninvited guests on your special day.

During the hot summer months, Unity Candles have been known to begin to melt in the desert sun. They also burn much faster when they are very warm. Often an Arizona gentle breeze will make it difficult to light the candles or keep them lit during the deremony. Be sure to light the tapers immediately before the Unity Candle ceremony to avoid this dilemma. The Blending of the Sands ceremony is a great alternative.

Although we have incredible weather most of the time, it is wise to have a "Plan B" just in case it rains. Be sure your wedding venue provides an alternative site agreement if the weather changes abruptly.

Be sure you provide a wireless Lavaliere (clip-on) microphone for the minister if your ceremony location is near a fountain, waterfall or a road. Your guests may not be able to hear your vows over the rippling water or the traffic noise.

If your ceremony is at a golf resort, be sure that golfers will not be riding by in their golf carts during the ceremony.
